I Was Told There'd Be Cake

The great thing about books like this (and the works of David Sedaris, Laurie Notaro, etc.) is that they're a quick, funny read, but still manage to be smart and clever and all that good stuff.

I enjoyed this- I may even try to find a used copy somewhere so that I can loan it out to people, because I have several friends that I know would enjoy it. There were definitely some cringe-worthy passages, like when she gets caught in a lie about a dead aunt to her employer, and some parts that I particularly loved, like when she talks about how disturbing Twin Peaks was.

Sloane Crosley is clever, witty, and I'm glad she feels comfortable oversharing about her life.
